Founder

Tan Eng Hee [Ah Hee]

Tan Eng Hee, also affectionally known as Ah Hee, is a veteran in the dragon boat community. A national sportsman from 1994 to 2002, he was the National Coach for the Singapore Dragon Boat National Team from 2002 to 2005.

DB Hearts started with Ah Hee's vision of creating an equal platform for everyone to participate in dragon boat races, regardless of profile and background. Since forming the pioneer team of DB Hearts, he continues to inspire and work to help typically and atypically profiled persons cross the finish line in their own merit.

Ah Hee currently coaches the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Women’s Dragon Boat Team, DBS Dragon Boat Corporate Team, the Ministry of Development (MND) Community Team and DB Hearts' competitive team, Paddlers with Hearts.

Chairperson

Desmond Koh

Desmond has been a very dedicated dragon boat activist since 2007. Besides being an active paddler and participating in competitions, he managed the USports Dragon Boat club from 2008 to 2016, and again since 2018 as Team Convenor for NTUC Sports, growing the originally 5 member team to one of the largest local teams. He saw the team through different challenges, holding several positions such as interim Captain and Treasurer when needed. To recognize his outstanding contribution, he was awarded Best Team Manager in 2014 and UChamp of the year in 2016 and 2017 by USports.

Desmond cares deeply about diversity and service to the community. Using his professional expertise in Human Resources, he enables, develops and grooms upcoming leaders while creating opportunities for competitive and leisure paddlers to enjoy the sport. He believes in working with other teams within the community and building good relationships by providing support to new teams who may need help in terms of equipment as he believes that future talent should not be restricted by the availability of resources and support, especially within this very constrained sport fraternity.

Secretary General

Gordon Ng [Rock]

Gordon, also known as Rock within the dragon boat community, started his dragon boat journey upon the completion of his National Service with the NTUC USports and has never looked back ever since. Helming the role as a Team Captain from 2012 to 2016, his life motto is “Engaging People Through Sports’. Living up to his beliefs, Rock consistently encouraged many to learn dragon boating through the running of Dragon boat Orientation Programmes for both schools and corporate organisations. Rock is a certified Level 1 coach and created the initial training curriculum for mentally challenged and visually handicapped groups. He also specialises in competitive coaching as well as recruitment coaching to guide new aspiring dragonboaters in both leisure and adaptive teams.

Rock is truly passionate about helping the community, whether it's through his professional life in the finance industry or in DB Hearts. Rock was previously the Treasurer and was deeply involved in event and team Operations.
